About the story
Medusa, the Gorgon, is getting out of Tartarus temporarily courtesy of Zeus and Hera. Medusa's given two weeks in which to track down Eris, their daughter, and convince her to come home. Transformed into a beautiful young woman, Medusa has only one order to follow: not to use her powers.
Now, as Meddy Gorgonne, Medusa finds a home with Sam and Trudy Goldstein, a brother and sister team who live in Portland, Oregon, and Meddy tries to figure out how modern society works. Cars, showers, television--they're all mysteries to her.
An equal mystery is people. Meddy's initially naive about life and love, as she falls for Sam, who is slowly going blind and deaf due to an illness. While that's cause for concern, Meddy's powers also return. The police find out something strange is going on in their city, and time begins to run out for Meddy and her quest to get Eris to return home. Meddy discovers that old is new, and that sometimes, tradition can surmount modernity. But will it be enough, or will she be forced to return to Tartarus for eternity?
